Scattered throughout the blog are useful links and resources intended to help you travel, homestead, and cook mouth-gasmic food. Rather than go on a scavenger hunt every time you want to find a certain link, I have compiled my list of favorites for you RIGHT HERE! Be sure to check out the page from time to time, as I will be adding new material the further down the blogging rabbit hole we travel!
There are infinite options available to the modern traveler when deciding where you will lay your head at night when away from home. Gone is the days of no privacy! Airbnb has replaced the traditional model of “places to stay.” With over 1 Million hosts to choose from on every continent in every price range, YOU choose your experience. Cory and I use Airbnb every time we travel. Check it out HERE to find your next dream home away from home. P.S. the tree houses are AMAZING!
Will Work to Travel
Want to travel to a dream destination but are working with a tight budget? YOU CAN! One of my favorite programs is WWOOF. The World Wide Organization of Organic Farming allows you to select your destination AND host family. Why not learn a new skill and meet the locals, while you travel abroad (or even within your country)? Most farms require as little as 24 hours a week in exchange for lodging and food. It’s kind of an incredible deal, right? Actually, WWOOF was how we found our home in Patagonia. So, thank you WWOOF!
Before you ever reach the terminal to jet set, you must pass through airport security. Shouldn’t this be the be the easy part? YEAH, RIGHT! With mountains of new rules and regulations constantly changing, save yourself the hassle of having to throw away your personal possessions and be prepared! Check out our comprehensive guide on How To Navigate T.S.A. You can also be proactive by using “T.S.A. Approved” travel gear to ensure there will be no trouble at the gates. Below I have listed some of my favorite gear…and a few that are on the WISH LIST! Seriously, Check out the second one. I WANT THIS!
Learning to be a blogger is like learning a second AND third language. Never fear! There is always someone in the Tech industry to help. Tailwind is the best thing in your blogging toolkit. Did you know that Pinterest is considered the #1 way to drive traffic to your blog. However, pinning a million times a day is TIME-CONSUMING. The good people at Tailwind got ya covered. Essentially, it is a pin scheduler with an in-depth look at your Pinterest analytics, so that you can get more followers. Get ONE MONTH FREE by clicking HERE and try it for yourself, no credit cards needed. Also, because they are THAT good, if you click the link and sign up before the end of MAY, they are actually offering 2 months for FREE. (What a great four letter word)
Want your photos to have a professional touch? PicMonkey has become my number one resource for editing photos, making pins for Pinterest, and clearing up my adult acne with their nifty airbrush effect. Photoshop and Light Rim are FAR too complicated for a technologically challenged individual like myself. PicMonkey‘s platform is easy to maneuver. You can literally complete for your first photo or pin in minutes. They offer a FREE 7-day trial. If after the 7 days, you decide that they are not for you..keep the photos! Win-Win Right?
When you are writing any form of copy, even the best writers make mistakes. For a while, I was relying on my computer’s spell check. My first guest post host asked me to use grammarly. When I realized that it was a FREE platform, (once again, my favorite four letter word) I thought why not? Since then, I have upgraded and added a checker to my browser which ensures that even my emails are curated perfectly. Good grammar and spelling are essential when you are conveying a message through words. Make sure your audience can understand you!
WP Engine is a fantastic Web Host Provider, if you are looking for quality customer service. At the moment, I have Bluehost. After a series of horrible customer service events that eventually crashed my site, I am upgrading at the end of the year. WP Engine may cost a bit more upfront, but if you are not a TECH-PRO you may want to opt for a host that can better serve you when you run into trouble. With unlimited monthly data transfers, Malware scanning and removal, and a staff knowledgeable about WordPress, you would be hard-pressed to find a better host.
